BABA FAQIR CHAND JI - BIRTH AND LIFE HISTORY

Actual birth date of Baba Faqir Chand Ji is unknown however in 1978 he was believed to be 120 years old, therefore his birth year is calculated as in 1858. .He was born in Lahor Pakistan. Baba Faqir Chand ji was known by cast thakar Rajput with last name Chauhan. He had four brothers and one sister, he was the youngest in his family. His brothers settled in Bombay. Baba Ji spent his childhood in "Palwana Wali Gali" Lahor, Pakistan. This area is famous for wrestling, many wrestlers reside in this area. Baba ji used to wrestle in his young age. He later joined British Army.



Baba Faqir Chand in Custody of the British Army

Baba Faqir Chand Ji served in the British Army before the independence of India. He was in charge of the kitchen. An Intruder (later revealed to be baba ji’s sister) poisoned the food of the army. and Baba ji was taken into the custody of army police for mixing the poison into the food, He was going to put into army jail for until court hearing, it was very common to have death penalty for such offenses during that time.In the prison, he prayed to God to prove his innocence. He promised God that, if his life was saved, he would live his life devoted to God. On the day of hearing to everyone's surprise, he was freed from all the charges and was released from jail.
Once he was freed, he left the army and his hometown. He went from place to place in search of a true saint who could guide him to achieve his goal.

Meeting with True Saint: Heera Nanad ji Hoshiarpur Wale

Baba Faqir Chand was visiting his friend in Lahore, when his friend invited him to a satsang led by Baba Heera Nand Ji (Husharpur Wale). Baba Faqir Chand refused to go to satsang because of his experience with every saint he met in the past. When his friend kept insisting, he agreed to attend the satgang but demanded the three things: a sweet paan (beetle leaf) a soda (carbonated drink) and a tanga (horse carriage) for a ride. His friend agreed to fulfill his demands on their way back from satsang His friend agreed to fulfill his demands on their way back. Both friends sat in the back, listening to the satsang by Baba Heera Nand Ji. Upon the completion of the Satsang, Baba Heera Nand Ji sent one of his pupils to go get a sweet paan, a soda and a tanga and told him to return back soon. He sent another one of his pupils to call Baba Faqir Chand and his friend. He presented the three items to Baba Faqir Chand once he came forward to meet Baba Heera Nand Ji. Baba Faqir Chand was astonished about how Baba Heera Nand Ji learned about his demands and he immediately realized that he was standing in front of a true saint. Baba Faqir Chand requested that Baba Heera Nand Ji accept him as a pupil and guide him to achieve his goal to merge with God. He started attending Satsang on regular basis and moved into Baba Heera Nand Ji's ashram (residence) Anand Puri in Pakistan. After the Independence of India Baba Ji moved to Nangal Behalan, Dist Hoshiarpr alogn with Baba Heera Nanad ji and others.



Granting Boon to Baba Faqir Chand ji

Looking at Baba Faqir Chand's devotion and love, one day Baba Heera Nand Ji decided to grant one wish to Baba Faqir Chand Ji. Baba Faqir Chand didn’t want anything from him. He was asked again and again, but he kept refusing to put forward any wishes. Finally, Baba Heera Nand ordered him to has to ask for at least one thing. Upon his Guru’s order, Baba Faqir Chand requested to get Baba Heera Nand Ji’s Khadava (slippers). Baba Heera Nand Ji gave him his slippers and told him that he doesn't’t need to come to the Satsang everyday. Baba Heera Nand Ji promised to come meet him once a day.

Baba Faqir Chand moved out of Baba Heera Nand's ashram and started to travel from village to village in the district of Gurdaspur, Panjab performing satsang and preaching his guru's message. During this time, he performed Kar-Seva (built) several temples, gurdwaras and gaushalas (cowsheds). He lived Village HarPura Dhandoi and Rampura of Gurdaspur District. Finally, in 1953 he moved to the village Dhakoana Qadian (Gurdaspur) and started living there. He spent 25 years of his life in Dakoana Qadian..


It is known that, during all this time Baba Heera Nand Ji and Bhagwan Krishan Ji went to meet Baba Faqir Chand ji daily at his ashram (residence Dhakoana Qadian). I have seen Baba ji crying in his love with his Guru that Baba Heera Nand ji love him more than his other followers. Some times Babaji tell us sadly in hindi "Oh Nahi Aya aaj" mean in that his Guru did not come to meet him today.
